How To Make Spicy Avocado Hummus
Hummus is such a great healthy snack for a football tailgate or holiday party! I love serving with veggies but also crackers, pretzels and some dark chocolate for a little something sweet!
For this recipe I am using a food processor but you could also use a blender. It may not be as easy to get the hummus out of a blender but a mini spatula works wonders!
There are not a lot of steps to this recipe, but first, make sure you drain and rinse the chickpeas in a strainer. Then add them to the food processor, along with the peeled garlic and the rest of the ingredients. Squeeze half of the lime on top of the avocado, and save the other half for later. I removed the seeds from the jalapeno but you can leave if you desired your hummus to be very spicy!
Pulse the food processor for 30 – 60 seconds, then scrape down the sides with a spatula. Pulse again for another 30 – 60 seconds. The hummus should be very smooth. If desired, you can add a tablespoon of water if you did not produce your desired smoothness.
Transfer to a bowl or plate and drizzle with olive oil. Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 7 days and squeeze the other half of the lime on top to help prevent the avocado from turning brown.
Hope you enjoy!!
