Caprese Salad is the perfect summer salad! Heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella and basil are a delicious combination. Want to kick it up a notch? Try taking it one step further and make Baked Caprese! Whether you make your Caprese Salad hot or cold, it’s always a crowd pleaser!
Let’s get started! Slice the tomatoes. If you can’t find yellow or orange tomatoes, red will do just fine. I just like what mixing the colors and flavors brings to the salad.
Now begin layering the tomato, mozzarella and basil in the dish, alternating the tomatoes. I used pre-sliced mozzarella which made it very easy to assemble and get the perfect slice of mozzarella every time.
When you are done, your dish should look like this below. So colorful! Drizzle with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar. If you wish, you can stop here and just serve the salad or keep going and try this Baked Caprese!
Enjoy!
