How to Make Cinnamon Chip Scones:

These scones are the easiest to make! I used a food processor to mix the dough, so much easier than mixing by hand, especially with cold butter and less mess!

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Add the flour, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon to the processor bowl. Pulse the dry ingredients to incorporate. Add the cold butter, I cut the butter into chunks to distribute easier.

Pulse until the butter is incorporated and the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs. Add in the heavy cream and beaten egg. Pulse until the mixture has come together.

Turn the dough out on to a sheet of parchment. Add the cinnamon chips to the dough and knead into the dough with your hands. Flatten the dough into a 1/2 inch think circle. Using a sharp knife, cut into wedges.

Separate the wedges on the parchment and slide the parchment onto a sheet pan. Bake for 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack but don’t discard the parchment! Once cooled place the wire rack on top of the parchment to glaze the scones.

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk and ground cinnamon. Use a spoon to spread the glaze over top of the cooled scones.

Hope you enjoy!!

Notes

  • I use parchment paper for easy clean up. It will prevent the dough from sticking to the kitchen counter and to the sheet pan.
  • Sometimes Cinnamon Chips are hard to find, these scones are just as delicious without them!
  • If you do not have a food processor, you can mix all of this by hand.
