Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup salted butter, cold (1 stick)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup cinnamon chips
Cinnamon Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Add flour, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon to food processor and pulse to combine the dry ingredients.
- Cut the cold butter into cubes and add to dry ingredients.
- Pulse until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
- Add heavy cream and beaten egg, pulse until combined.
- Turn dough out on to sheet of parchment paper.
- Add the cinnamon chips and knead into the dough, form the dough into 1/2 inch thick circle.
- Using a knife, cut into wedges. Separate the wedges on the parchment.
- Slide the parchment onto a sheet pan.
- Bake for 15 minutes and cool on a wire rack. (Don’t discard the parchment just yet!)
- Once cooled place the wire rack with the scones back on top of the parchment.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cinnamon and milk.
- Use a spoon to spread glaze over top of the cooled scones.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- I use parchment paper for easy clean up. It will prevent the dough from sticking to the kitchen counter and to the sheet pan.
- Sometimes Cinnamon Chips are hard to find, these scones are just as delicious without them!
- If you do not have a food processor, you can mix all of this by hand.
