These Dark Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies are sweet, soft and so easy to make!! This shortcut recipe uses a yellow cake mix but you would never know! I love the addition of the dark chocolate chips! Gives the chocolate chip cookie a totally different feel!

- salted butter
- large egg
- vanilla extract

- powdered sugar

How To Make Dark Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies
Like all Gooey Butter Cookies these are VERY addicting! I swear I dark chocolate to anything I can LOL!
Pre-heat your oven to 375 and line a sheet pan with parchment. In a large bowl, mix the softened butter and cream cheese with a hand mixer.
Then mix in the egg and vanilla until well incorporated. Then add the dry cake mix. Lastly, stir in the dark chocolate chips by hand with a large spoon.
Now, using a cookie scoop or tablespoon form dough into one inch balls. Then roll dough in powdered sugar and place on parchment lined cookie sheet.
Continue with remaining dough. I baked these in two batches but if you have two sheet pans you can do them all at once. If you do them in batches, I suggest letting the sheet pan cool for a few minutes before adding the cookie dough so it doesn’t start to melt.
Bake for 11- 13 minutes, but check at the 11 minute mark. Mine were cooked perfectly by then but everyone’s oven if different.
Transfer cookies to cooling rack and continue if making in batches.
I suggest refrigerating or freezing if not eating immediately.

- Cool on wire rack.
- Repeat with remaining cookie dough if baking in multiple batches.
