Ginger Crinkle Cookies embody the essence of holiday treats. Their sparkling sugar coating and the signature crackled surface make them a delightful addition to any festive gathering. The warm spices mingle with the rich molasses flavor to create a cookie that’s not only a joy to behold but also a pleasure to eat.

How to Make Ginger Crinkle Cookies

To get started, using a large mixing bowl, beat shortening and granulated sugar with a hand mixer until fluffy. Next, add the egg and molasses and blend well.

Lastly, add in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, sea salt, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg and ground cloves and mix until combined.

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 and line a sheet pan with parchment.

Using a cookie scoop or a teaspoon, shape dough into 1″ balls and roll in white sparking sugar and place on parchment lined sheet pan.

Bake for 11 minutes and remove to a wire rack to cool and continue with remaining cookie dough. If you have two sheet pans, I suggest alternating bakes to allow the other sheet pan to cool.

Once cookies are cool, store in an airtight container.

Hope you enjoy!
