- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 3 tsp ground ginger
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- white sparkling sugar (sprinkles)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat shortening and granulated sugar with a hand mixer until fluffy.
- Next, add the egg and molasses, blend well.
- Beat in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, sea salt, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg and ground cloves.
- Cover and refrigerate for an hour.
- Preheat oven to 375 and line a sheet pan with parchment.
- Using a cookie scoop or a teaspoon, shape dough into 1″ balls and roll in white sparking sugar and place on parchment lined sheet pan.
- Bake for 11 minutes and remove to a wire rack to cool.
- Continue with remaining cookie dough.
