Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat shortening and granulated sugar with a hand mixer until fluffy.
  2. Next, add the egg and molasses, blend well.
  3. Beat in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, sea salt, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg and ground cloves.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for an hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 375 and line a sheet pan with parchment.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or a teaspoon, shape dough into 1″ balls and roll in white sparking sugar and place on parchment lined sheet pan.
  7. Bake for 11 minutes and remove to a wire rack to cool.
  8. Continue with remaining cookie dough.
  9. Enjoy!
