Scale
Pizza Dough
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp dry active yeast (one packet)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Pizza Toppings (Optional or Add Your Own)
- 1/2 cup pizza or tomato sauce
- 8 – 12 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
- fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In large bowl, mix water, sugar and yeast.
- Let sit until yeast activates and looks foamy, about 5 – 10 minutes
- Then add olive oil, salt and 2 cups of flour
- Mix with dough hook on low until dough looks rough, about 2 minutes (or mix by hand or with a wooden spoon)
- After 2 minutes, turn to medium speed for 5 minutes and gradually add remaining 1/2 cup of flour until the dough looks smooth and elastic (or transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead by hand)
- Cover bowl in plastic wrap and let rise for one hour (I transferred to a slightly oiled bowl)
- After one hour, pre-heat oven to 400 degrees
- With lightly floured hands, transfer dough to lightly floured surface and form into ball
- Cut in half and form into 2 balls. If using later, wrap one or both individually in plastic wrap and refrigerate.
- If using now, roll out dough on floured surface and transfer to a parchment lined cookie sheet.
- Top with sauce and cheese or add your desired toppings.
- Bake for 15 – 17 minutes.
