Homemade Pizza Dough

Pizza Dough

Pizza Toppings (Optional or Add Your Own)

  • 1/2 cup pizza or tomato sauce
  • 812 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
  • fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In large bowl, mix water, sugar and yeast.
  2. Let sit until yeast activates and looks foamy, about 5 – 10 minutes
  3. Then add olive oil, salt and 2 cups of flour
  4. Mix with dough hook on low until dough looks rough, about 2 minutes (or mix by hand or with a wooden spoon)
  5. After 2 minutes, turn to medium speed for 5 minutes and gradually add remaining 1/2 cup of flour until the dough looks smooth and elastic (or transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead by hand)
  6. Cover bowl in plastic wrap and let rise for one hour (I transferred to a slightly oiled bowl)
  7. After one hour, pre-heat oven to 400 degrees
  8. With lightly floured hands, transfer dough to lightly floured surface and form into ball
  9. Cut in half and form into 2 balls. If using later, wrap one or both individually in plastic wrap and refrigerate.
  10. If using now, roll out dough on floured surface and transfer to a parchment lined cookie sheet.
  11. Top with sauce and cheese or add your desired toppings.
  12. Bake for 15 – 17 minutes.
