How To Make Italian Holiday Candy

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment and spread out the almonds in a even layer. Toast for 20 minutes.

In a medium saucepan, heat the sugar, chocolate and coffee (or water) over a medium heat. Bring to a low boil and lower the temperature. Slowly whisk for 15 minutes until the chocolate has thickened slightly and the sugar has dissolved.

Next, add the ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, fresh lemon rind and stir. Then add the toasted almonds and stir,

Working quickly, use a teaspoon to spoon the clusters on to parchment or wax paper. Then, if desired, top with sprinkles. Make sure you top with sprinkles quickly or the chocolate will harden and the sprinkles will not stick.

Let sit until chocolate has hardened or place sheet pan in the refrigerator or freezer to speed up the process. I don’t usually have the space to chill a sheet pan of candy, so I let them sit on the counter for an hour or so.

Hope you enjoy!
