Ingredients
- 1/2 lb almonds
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate
- 1/2 cup black coffee or water
- 1 lemon, grated (about 1 tbsp)
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- sprinkles (such as nonpareils)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
- Toast almonds for 20 minutes,
- In a medium saucepan, heat sugar, chocolate and coffee (or water). Stirring continuously until melted and it has slightly thickened, about 15 minutes.
- Then stir in lemon rind, ground nutmeg and ground cinnamon.
- Next stir in the toasted almonds.
- Working quickly, use a teaspoon to spoon the clusters on to parchment or wax paper. Then, if desired, top with sprinkles. Make sure you top with sprinkles quickly or the chocolate will harden and the sprinkles will not stick.
- Let sit until chocolate has hardened or place sheet pan in the refrigerator or freezer to speed up the process.
