These Peppermint Sugar Cookie Bars are a tasty twist on the old fashioned sugar cookie. With some crushed peppermint candies, and it makes the perfect treat for a holiday party!

- salted butter
- cream cheese
- granulated sugar
- large egg
- vanilla extract
- peppermint extract
- baking powder
- baking soda
- all-purpose flour
- vanilla frosting
- candy canes
- cooking spray

How To Make Peppermint Sugar Cookie Bars
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter and cream cheese using a hand mixer.
Next, mix in sugar and then the egg, vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract. Beat in flour, baking soda and baking powder and mix until completely combined. Spread into the greased baking dish, the mixture will be thick.
Bake for 20 – 25 minutes until toothpick comes out clean and let cool completely.
Once bars are completely cooled, add 1/4 tsp teaspoon of peppermint extract to each tub of vanilla buttercream icing or to your own homemade buttercream icing. Spread icing evenly on top of bars.
Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top of icing.

- Add in baking powder, baking soda and flour and mix thoroughly.
- Spread into greased pan.

- Let cool completely.
- Mix 1/4 tsp of peppermint extract in each tub of the vanilla frosting.
- Spread frosting on top of bars and top with crushed candy canes.
