Step up your dinner game with this Broccoli Cheese Bake! What better way to get everyone to eat their veggies than to cover with cheese! Just a few simple steps, pop in the oven and on the dinner table in 45 minutes!
This Broccoli Cheese Bake is the easiest side dish that will please everyone! No broccoli? Try it with cauliflower or a vegetable medley! Making for a larger group? Double the recipe.
Let’s get started so we can enjoy all the cheesy goodness! Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a small casserole dish. Chop the head of broccoli, removing the stem(s), and arrange in the greased dish.
Heat butter in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat. Sprinkle the flour over the butter and whisk together to form a roux. Slowly whisk the milk into the roux. Continually whisking until the mixture is smooth and let come to a low boil. Let the boil simmer for 2 – 3 minutes. You want the milk to thicken up a little.
Pour sauce evenly over the broccoli and top with the shredded cheese.
Bake for 35 – 40 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and browned. Serve immediately!
