How To Make Irish Soda Bread Rolls
This recipe is so easy! With only 5 ingredients and no rise time, these rolls can be on the table in less than an hour!
Pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees. Make sure you arrange the racks in your oven so that you can place the rolls in the middle. In a large bowl, add the all-purpose flour, baking soda, sea salt and grated Irish cheddar and mix with a wooden spoon or spatula.


Create a well in the middle of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Mix with a spoon until the dough holds together. The dough should be rough and sticky. If the dough, isn’t coming together, add buttermilk one tablespoon at a time until the dough comes together.


Place parchment on a sheet pan and sprinkle with lightly with flour. Transfer dough to floured parchment then lightly flour the top. Knead and form into a rough rectangle, using a pastry cutter or sharp knife, cut dough into six equal sections. Gently form each section into a ball, using a sharp knife cut a deep cross into each ball.
Bake for 10 minutes at 425 degrees on a rack in the middle of the oven. Then lower the temperature to 400 and bake for another 10 minutes.
Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 cup Irish cheddar, grated

- Create a well in the middle of flour and cheese mixture, pour in the buttermilk.
- Mix with a wooden spoon or spatula until all the buttermilk is incorporated and the dough sticks together. If the dough isn’t coming together, add more buttermilk a tablespoon at a time until dough sticks together.
- Lightly flour the parchment in the sheet pan and transfer dough.
- Sprinkle a little flour on top and lightly knead and form into a rectangular loaf.
- Using a pastry cutter or sharp knife, cut dough into 6 equal section.
- Gently form each section into a ball, and using a sharp knife cut a deep cross into the top of each ball.
- Bake for 10 minutes on a rack in the middle of the oven, then drop to 400 degrees and bake for another 10 minutes.
- Let cool 5 minutes before serving.
