How to Make Peppermint Sugar Cookies

Begin by warming your oven to 350 degrees and prepare a sheet pan with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and vanilla using an electric mixer until the mixture turns smooth and fluffy. Slowly add the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda, beating until everything is well combined. A splash of water brings the dough together, transforming it into a soft, workable mixture.

With a large cookie scoop, portion the dough onto your prepared baking sheet, spacing each mound about two inches apart—four to five cookies per pan is just right. Slide the tray into the oven and bake until the edges are set, about twelve minutes. As soon as you pull the cookies from the oven, shower them with peppermint crunch sprinkles so they melt slightly into the warm tops.

Allow the cookies to rest for a couple of minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool. Continue scooping and baking with the remaining dough, remembering to let the pan cool between batches or simply use another sheet pan. Once cooled, your peppermint sugar cookies are ready to be enjoyed—perfectly festive, delightfully minty, and just the right size for sharing.
