Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees and line a sheet pan with parchment.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, baking soda and salt.
  3. Mix in sugar.
  4. Create a well and add the buttermilk and pumpkin.
  5. Mix with a spoon until all the buttermilk and pumpkin is incorporated and the dough sticks together.
  6. Sprinkle flour onto the parchment, transfer dough and sprinkle a little flour on top and lightly knead into a round loaf. About 6 inches wide.
  7. Mix the cinnamon sugar topping in a small bowl and sprinkle the top of the dough.
  8. Using a sharp knife, cut a deep cross into the top of the loaf.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes on a rack in the middle of the oven, then drop to 400 degrees and bake for another 20 – 25 minutes. Checking with a toothpick at 20 minutes.
  10. Cool for 15 – 20 minutes on a wire rack before cutting.
