How To Make Classic Snickerdoodles

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line a sheet pan with parchment paper. I love using parchment instead of greasing a sheet pan. It’s less mess and I am all about easy clean up!

In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar and shortening with an electric hand mixer. Then beat in the eggs until well incorporated. Lastly, beat in the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar.

In a shallow bowl, dish or container, mix together the ground cinnamon and 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, form dough into 1 – 1.5 inch balls. Roll the dough balls in the cinnamon sugar mixture covering the entire ball. Place the cinnamon sugar coated dough on the parchment lined sheet pan and bake for 8 minutes.

Cookies may seem soft but they will harden slightly when cooled so be sure to not over-bake! The bottom should be lightly browned.

Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.

Hope you enjoy!
