How To Make Christmas Sugar Cookies
I have been making these Sugar Cookies with my mom since I was little. I loved cutting out all the different shapes, not to mention eating the cookies!
Let’s get started! In a large bowl, sift flour and confectioners sugar. The add the butter, it does not have to be softened necessarily but it should not be really hard either or it will be difficult to cut into the dry ingredients.
Mix with a fork or pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, vanilla and milk. Then add the egg mixture to the butter mixture and stir together using a wooden spoon until the dough comes together.
Layout plastic wrap and transfer dough on top of wrap. Wrap into ball and place in refrigerator. Let the dough refrigerate at least an hour.
When you are ready to cutout the cookies, pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Split the dough in half and rollout on a lightly floured surface.
Use the cookie cutters of your choice, form the dough scraps into ball and repeat until all the dough is used.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment or silicon baking pad, place cutouts on sheet and bake at 375 for 7 – 8 minutes. Cool on a wire rack and repeat with remaining cutouts. Frost cooled cookies as desired.
